What is the Soaring: Indigenous Youth Empowerment Gathering?

Soaring:  Indspire invites high school educators and their First Nation, Inuit, and Métis students to attend Indspire’s Soaring: Indigenous Youth Career Conferences. At Soaring, students may explore post-secondary options through campus tours, engage in career workshops and an interactive tradeshow with industry professionals, and learn about Indspire’s bursaries and scholarships.

 What is campus day?

Campus Day is a unique opportunity for Soaring attendees to visit three post-secondary institutions to get a feel for what post-secondary studies can be like. Campus Day includes a campus tour, workshops, complimentary lunch and prize giveaways.

What are the Indspire Awards?

The Indspire Awards were established in 1993 in conjunction with the United Nations’ International Decade of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, and after 24 years, we have honoured 337 outstanding First Nations, Inuit, and Métis individuals. These positive role models demonstrate to Indigenous youth that they can achieve their dreams too. On March 23, 2018, join us in Winnipeg to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Indspire Awards!

When are the Indspire Awards?

Date: Friday, March 23, 2018

Who can attend Soaring?

 Indigenous high school students in grades 9-12 and their parents and chaperones.

Is there a charge to attend Soaring?

The conference is free of charge for all participants. However there is limited space, so please register early.

When is the Registration deadline?

The registration deadline is January 29, 2018.

Where do I send my registration forms and release forms?

Please fax or email your completed registration request form to 1.866.433.3159 or soaring@indspire.ca. Once your application is approved, a participant release form for each student will be emailed to the lead chaperone.

When will my registration be confirmed?

You will be emailed a confirmation of registration by March 2, 2018.

What is the chaperone-student ratio?

It is recommended that one chaperone accompany every 10-15 students. We recommend that one adult chaperone (18 years of age or older) accompany and take full responsibility for the youth in his or her care.

Does Indspire cover travel/parking?

Indspire will not cover parking or travel costs for groups to attend the event.

Are there accommodations available for students and chaperones?

Indspire has some complimentary sponsored accommodations available for chaperone and students. If you are requesting complimentary accommodations your request must be received before December 1, 2017 at 11:59 EST.

Is lunch provided?

Lunch is provided free of charge for all participants, including chaperones. Please email any special dietary requirements or allergies to soaring@indspire.ca

How can I notify Indspire for Cancellations/Changes?

If a registered student or chaperone is no longer able to attend, the school may provide substitutes, but Indspire must be notified in writing. If your group must cancel your registration, please notify Indspire in writing immediately so that we can make that space available to another group.  Email or fax to soaring@indspire.ca or 1.866.433.3159.
