Melinda Fowler-Woods knows how important it is to

Melinda Fowler-Woods knows how important it is to put things back together with care & precision – and also that healing takes time and requires strength. 😊

She’s a third-year orthopedic surgery resident at the University of Manitoba and is supported by the Mejuri Bursary through our Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries & Scholarships program.

Melinda plans to pursue a fellowship to specialize after she graduates and is looking forward to creating change in her chosen profession as well as in her community:

“I truly appreciate the Mejuri Bursary supporting a female in orthopedic surgery as there is a huge gender gap within my field. In addition, I am one of the only Indigenous orthopedic surgery residents that I know of across the country. We definitely need more!”
