White Buffalo Award

The White Buffalo Award was established as a way to raise awareness around the social inequality that Canada’s Indigenous women face. With the belief that education is the driving force behind change and working through Indigenous-led registered charity Indspire, Maria Micsia founded the White Buffalo Award, a scholarship presented to First Nations, Inuit and Métis women who wish to pursue studies in the Fine Arts, Healthcare and Culture and Language preservation fields.
