Presented by Amanda Hamel and Christine M’Lot

Food stories can be a powerful way to explore identity, culture, community and relationships with the land. In this practical session, Amanda Hamel and Anishinaabe educator and curriculum developer Christine M’Lot will introduce Sharing Food Stories, a free, curriculum-connected resource for Grades 2–7 (and beyond) developed in collaboration with storytellers, educators and community members.  Together, they will share practical ideas for bringing culturally responsive food literacy into the classroom using the Sharing Food Stories program.  In this session, teachers will:

  • Learn how to create curriculum connections across multiple subjects.
  • Delve into the short videos,  teacher-ready printables, and  guided discussion prompts
  • Discover inclusive, learning experiences that foster belonging, empathy, and respectful conversations

Sharing Food Stories was made possible thanks to the generosity of storytellers, educators, and community partners who shared their knowledge and time with us. Their voices are at the heart of this resource, and your students will carry those stories forward.
