Presented by Kimberley Fraser-Airhart

Revitalizing local Indigenous languages is a shared responsibility that enriches all members of our school communities. You don’t need to be a fluent speaker to welcome Indigenous languages into your classroom. Weaving local languages into everyday school settings fosters belonging, land relationality, and environmental stewardship for all students. This session offers practical, beginner-friendly strategies to embed Indigenous languages across disciplines using daily greetings, routines, and rewards. Participants will have time in small groups to explore community-made resources and discuss strategies to address challenges to weaving in languages, including curriculum connections, multicultural spaces, and navigating emerging AI tools. Designed for educators of all confidence levels, this interactive session provides easy-to-use tools to make language revitalization a welcoming, everyday practice.
