Indspire > Events > National Gathering > Presentations > Building Relational Tech: An Educator’s Guide to the Indigenous AI EcosystemPresented by Lynnsey Chartrand and Margaret Mackenzie
AI is rapidly reshaping education, making AI literacy essential. To navigate this shift, educators, community members, and parents/guardians need tools and strategies to foster safe, critical technology use inside and outside the classroom. For Indigenous communities in particular, educators and youth alike must harness AI in culturally safe and responsible ways. This requires understanding both the limitations of commercial AI and how to choose tools that reflect local community values. In this session, we will explore today’s Indigenous AI ecosystem and highlight how communities and education systems can leverage AI to support language revitalization, protect cultural sovereignty, and address community priorities.
