This webinar will provide an overview of JUMP Math, a registered Canadian Charity that aims to support outstanding math teaching. In this webinar Liz Barrett will walk you through the online teacher resources and confidence builders available at www.jumpmath.org. JUMP Math is committed to supporting numeracy and math skills among First Nations communities throughout Canada. They have worked closely with First Nations in BC, Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to develop exciting teaching in math classrooms.

Presenter: Liz Barrett is a teacher and an Outreach Manager for the charity, JUMP Math. She also serves as the JUMP Math First Nations Outreach and Teacher Support Specialist. Moving from South Africa to Whistler, British Columbia was how Liz came across a First Nations community in Mount Currie that ended up shaping her life in Canada. It was at this school that she first introduced JUMP Math in BC and she volunteered in those early days to support John Mighton as he started the charity. In 2016, she received the Guiding the Journey: Indigenous Educator Awards, Indigenous Education Partner Award. She has made a significant difference in Indigenous education throughout her work. Today, she travels around Canada supporting teachers and communities to improve math education and she is an avid supporter of language immersion for First Nations children.
