This instructional webinar will describe the ways in which Anishinaabemowin is instructed in elementary classrooms. As well as, explore how to develop Ojibwe language skills. Our host will review sample lessons on money and time for implementing in K-8 classrooms.

  • Strategies for language instruction
  • Aspects of Ojibwe sound system and orthography

Presenter: James (Mawla) Shawana is an Odawa & Potawatomi Anishinabe from Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reservation located on Manitoulin Island in Ontario, Canada. Anishinabe is his first language. He currently, teaches Ojibwe language at Llyod S. King Elementary School located on Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation, Ontario.
