“Our family will be honoured to have him remembered by the many people he worked with across the country while serving as President of NAAF (Now known as Indspire). His work with the Foundation was a highlight of his career, particularly the productions of the Gala Awards. Roman was so proud of his Metis heritage: his Mother’s family, Cree/Beaver/St.Germain/Bourassa. His ancestors were from the Red River, and over the many years, several were famous for their skills, strength, and endurance: a St. Germain was on the Franklin Expedition and helped saved the lives of Franklin and many others. One received a Victoria Cross for delivering mail on time, over many hundreds of miles of country, summer, and winter by water and land. His grandfather and great-grandfather built Hudson’s Bay posts across the North. His genealogy traces back to Quebec City in the late 1700’s – Voyageurs…and his First Nations ancestry thousands of years.” Marilyn Bittman in correspondence with Roberta Jamieson
The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11th, 2017 at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 477 Manning Avenue, Toronto. Donations to Kensington Hospice Foundation are greatly appreciated.
