His love of aeronautics began when he enrolled in an Aircraft Maintenance Technician program in Montreal at John Abbott College. While working towards his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering, he was one of only ten participants from Canada chosen to attend the annual Space Studies Program offered by the International Space University held in Beijing, China. A joint bursary between the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation and the Canadian Foundation for International Space University (CFISU) helped make the trip possible. He has received three scholarships through the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation. He has contributed nationally and internationally in the engineering sector for his research in ceramic materials for use in both aeronautical and aerospace industries.
