Welcome to our first newsletter for 2017 and I hope you enjoy the new web version that we have created!
My vision for future generations of Indigenous students continues to be that they all have access to an educational experience which includes our history, our languages, our values, and our science.
I want Indigenous youth to be encouraged and empowered to hold on to values they are willing to defend, to find good people to shape their lives around, to discover a way to be fully involved in everything that is happening in our communities – our nations, our Canada, our world.
As we celebrate Canada’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation, our focus as a nation is on Reconciliation. Now more than ever, education is the key to transformation in the relationship between Canada and Indigenous Peoples.
Education will increase capacity to make constructive change, to better economic circumstances.
Education is a sustainable investment which exponentially increases benefits over future generations and in a short time pays for itself.
We must make that investment.
